A revolutionary new take on energy storage. OLPHES — a single‑reservoir, modular and scalable pumped‑hydro technology — can be installed in gulfs, mining pit lakes, reservoirs and off‑shore, delivering storage with low deployment costs.
The basic principle is the same as pumped‑hydro energy storage. The key difference is reservoir arrangement: OLPHES uses a smaller buoyant platform floating within a larger reservoir. Water is moved between them via floating pumps and turbines.
